Marco, a pharmacist
wasting away his existence from sampling too many of his own wares, meets Alicia, a young
waitress forever changed by a near-death experience. Shared fascination will turn to
mutual affection as the two embark on a spiritual journey that would lead them away from
the miseries of their deadening surroundings to the shores of Mexico. Tragedy strikes,
however, and both have to look within to find the true meaning of their need for escape.
Filmmaker's Bio :
JEAN-FRANÇOIS DAIGLE
Born in 1979, Jean-François Daigle shot his first film at the age of 10 with the help of
his brother and a Fisher Price « Pixelvision » camera. In the hopes of becoming a camera
operator, he persued his studies in cinema in CEGEP and university, and has touched
various genres (ENG, documentary, fiction, experimental cinema and music video) in video
and 16mm. His final-year film at Concordia University, intitled PAIN RELIEF,
earned him the MICHEL-TRUDEL AWARD in FILM PRODUCTION for Overall
Technical Achievement in Third Year Film Production. During Montreals last
World Film Festival, he won the NORMAN McLAREN AWARD FOR THE BEST PRODUCTION
of the 32nd annual Canadian Student Film Festival for its corky and unpredictable
storyline and audacious use of different styles to convey a thoroughly entertaining and
enjoyable film and also received the BEST FICTION VIDEO AWARD.
