La
Famille dans le mur introduces the work of novelist Suzanne Martel. A native
of Quebec City, Martel has won most of the major prizes available to young writers in both
Quebec and the rest of Canada. The awards recognize the quality of her prose style, the
vividness of her imagination and the depth of her insight into our country. Martel's most
important novel, Les Montcorbier, is a lengthy and passionate family saga which
has only recently earned renewed interest from publishers. Martel began writing the first
drafts of the books when she was a young girl, with her sister Monique. The two
rediscovered the yellowed pages of their notebooks -a wonderful memento of their youth-
after the death of their mother. And thus were the Montcorbier reborn. |
