This documentary
explores the journey that led Denise, 52, a divorced mother of three sons in their early
twenties, to become a cloistered Carmelite nun. The viewer is witness to emotional scenes
in which Denise's sons react with mixed feelings to their mother's decision, variously
questioning her motives, accepting her decision or rejecting it outright.
Mother also depicts the day-to-day routine of the
Carmelite Order and follows the event that marks the turning point in the family's life:
the ceremony in which Denise takes perpetual vows. |
